After many days at the beach and on the road I have finally returned to the city. Must admit it feels really nice to be home. Something about Mexico City has stolen my heart and blossed into an enchanting romance. I am not really sure where to start recalling my adventures. This may take many chapters or blog entries. I will start with the most recent and work my way into the past.
The last ten days I have been in Pie De La Cuesta, a little suburb of Acapulco. Not much going on in this little town which was just what I was looking for. Again, the local underage boys asked me out- not really sure what this is all about but I have been constantly asked out by guys just out of highschool. Maybe they are looking for a mother figure, even so my standards require more than just double digits in age. A little life experience is also necessary. Back to the Hotel Villa Nirvana. It was really great and affordable. The salt water pool was nice for cooling off. I developed a little daily routine. Woke up with the sunrise and ran the dogs on the beach too the military check point. I was deterred from crossing the checkpoint due to the man with the automatic weapon standing on the other side of the sign. Ran back to the hotel, grabbed my yoga mat for a little pilates and stretching by the sea. Fed the dogs and walked 20 feet to the hotel resturant to find some grub which usually consisted of fresh fruit, tea, licuado platano and/or toast. Following the meal some time was spent in one of the many hammocks to allow for proper digestion. By this time in the day (9 or 9:30) the sun begins to cook everything exposed. The heat automatically triggers my swimsuit reflex and I dress accordingly with the proper SPF ofcourse. I am not looking forward to anymore surgeries. Here is where the day really gets long and I lose myself in time. I begin by wandering out to the beach to lay by the ocean and play in the water. I post up next to a small palapa on the sand so the dogs have a place for shade and relief from the heat. Little G holds his own position standing in the ocean waiting for me to throw a stick. I fell asleep one day and woke up an hour later and he was still in the same position, staring at me with strong intentions to control my brain and make me into a fetching slave. Julie was watching him and told me he barely moved the entire time I slept. Que obsecion!! After laying on the beach and throwing a few coconut shells for G I head to the pool and float in the cool water. I finally muster up the strength to crawl to a poolside lounge chair and fall asleep to the sounds of the waves. Moments later I head back out to the beach to repeat the cycle adding in a meal of guacamole. I was not a total slug, I did manage to fill my head with many great books. The sun begins to set around 5:30 or 6. I gather the dogs and head to the beach to watch the sunset. Each night was unique, and on occasion I would play in the waves looking for a little surf as the sun found its way below the horizon. Hit the showers and prepare for dinner. There are a few good, inexpensive restaurants along the beach. (just a side note I am listening to Betty Davis Eyes on the radio right now as I am typing- when was the last time you heard that song?) Dinner was usually sopes and guacamole! Return to the hotel exhausted, chat with other hotel guests that I have met, and lay in a hammock watching the stars. Lay my head on the pillow looking forward to another day and sweet dreams. I am unable to upload photos from my trip so hopefully I will be able to post them soon.
I miss everyone and I thank you for all the emails! See you in SLC, March 21!
